Ethan Lau is an Associate attorney with Rivas Goldstein, LLP. His practice areas include healthcare, regulatory and administrative law. Mr. Lau represents home health agencies, physicians, nursing homes and other licensed health professionals before their respective licensing boards, as well as for civil and criminal litigation in state and federal courts. As a seasoned litigator, Mr. Lau understands and appreciates the complexities and nuances of civil and administrative practices, and he utilizes this expertise to best serve his clients.

Mr. Lau began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York. As a state prosecutor, Mr. Lau successfully prosecuted thousands of criminal cases ranging from DUI/DWIs to drug possessions to aggravated assaults and attempted murders. During his tenure, he garnered extensive experience in all aspect of litigation including evidentiary investigation, witness preparation, motion practice and jury trial.

Subsequently, Mr. Lau worked as a senior in-house counsel at Coach, where he headed the company's world-wide intellectual property enforcement and civil litigation program. He specialized in litigation relating to The Lanham Act, Title 17 Copyright law, Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act and the ICANN Uniform Dispute Resolution Protocol. He successfully represented Coach in a number of large scale vicarious liability cases against landlords and custom importers for trademark and copyright infringements. In his role at Coach, he regularly gave lectures and training to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

Prior to joining Rivas Goldstein, LLP, Mr. Lau served as a consulting attorney at the New York City Department of Education, where he managed all Freedom of Information Law and Family Education Records Privacy Act requests, responses and appeals.

Mr. Lau is a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese.
